Overall Hairstyle

In today's wig world, you have literally thousands of style options from which to choose: hairstyles that range from classic pixie to more complex high-fashion runway looks such as a modern shag, aka “Wolf cut”.

In many cases, we recommend that first-timers choose a wig that sparks the most joy. This is especially true for those who are going through a medical treatment since you will be wearing your wig for at least 1 year. Choosing what length to wear is entirely up to the client. Lifestyle, activity level and time of year are some key factors to consider when choosing your perfect length. Some clients do not mind the added maintenance that comes with longer hair, while others choose to simplify their daily routine and opt for something shorter and easier to care for. But no matter the style you choose, our team at Judi’s Wigs is ready to help customize your wig, alternative hair or hair pieces to ensure you look just the way you want.

Length Factors

Generally speaking, wigs come in three length templates:

  • Short wigs: To the ears or shorter (Think Pixie)

  • Mid-length wigs: Any lengths between the shoulders and ears. (Bobs, LOBS, or Shag)

  • Long wigs: Anything falling below the shoulders

Which length you choose will be determined by several variables, including your personal preference and what you're able to accommodate as well as your lifestyle, which can affect how much time you'll be spending on grooming your wig.

If you choose a short wig, you can expect to take at least 30 minutes off your normal routine, while a longer wig may require a bit more time and devotion to maintain.

In addition, you will have to think about your social activities and whether you expect that they might interfere with the amount of time you spend on your hair each day. If, for instance, you play an outdoor sport, a shorter wig may be ideal for you. Whereas, if your activity levels are milder, choosing a length you can style may be more appealing for you.  Due to the easy maintenance, many of clients opt for the long heat style of wigs.
